Informatics Research Internship - HRI | Indiana University - Bloomington | 2017
While undertaking my internship in Human Robot Interaction under PhD student Haodan Tan at Indiana University, I conducted work in a variety of fields:
  • Research – Researched human robot interaction techniques and research methods, including ethical responsibilities regarding evaluation of technologies using human research subjects.
  • Design – With a team of graduate students, contributed to the design and construction of the 'Raven' interactive robotic device.
  • Photography – Documented the entire design and implementation process, including field testing of the robot and interview photos. Photo Editing in Adobe Lightroom.
  • Field Study – Deployed the Raven bot and observed human interactions. Surveyed people afterward about the effectiveness of our design. Contributed ideas about methods and results.
After our design and initial evaluation took place, the Raven bot was featured in the 2017 annual HRI Design Competition in Vienna, Austria, and won first prize in the Student Design Competition.
